Although Jayne Mansfield appears gentle and sympathetic toward others (as explained in the previous chapter), she is also a "warrior". Mansfield sometimes feels torn between these two facets of her character: the sensitive, tenderhearted, home-loving side, and the assertive, competitive, risk-taking side.
