In many ways, Isiah Thomas contradicts himself! While he enjoys traveling and adventure (as mentioned in the previous chapter), Thomas can be very slow to move. Stability and security are as important to him as exploring new worlds. Isiah Thomas needs to find a place in his life to express both urges: the impulse to take risks and to go where he has never gone before, and the need for order, predictability, and staying with the tried-and-true.

He is a steadfast and patient soul, capable of tremendous devotion, dedication, endurance and constancy. The ability to follow through and stick with things is one of his greatest assets. Once Thomas' course is set, he pursues it tenaciously until it is completed, stubbornly resisting any attempts to sway him from his purpose.

Isiah Thomas has a very practical nature; he wants to see concrete, tangible results for his efforts, and he is not one to concoct wild dreams that are unlikely to come into fruition. Most of his "wild dreams" have to do with material achievements, well-being and security, for he has a great love of the physical world and he wants to experience and enjoy it to the full. Though Isiah Thomas will work long and persistently, he also has a strong sensual and comfort-loving side, and he wants to enjoy what he has worked for. In fact, Thomas can be enormously lazy at times and has a tendency to overindulge in good food and other earthly pleasures. Basically, his needs are simple and he is easy to please. Isiah Thomas has a strong desire for security, stability and peace, and will rarely make changes unless he is forced to do so. Isiah has big aspirations and the desire to succeed in life in a grand way. Isiah Thomas tends to exaggerate, promise more than is feasible and misjudge by being overly optimistic. However, he never gives up on his hopes for the future. Thomas tends to be restless and discontent with the responsibilities and limitations of life.

Isiah Thomas is extremely sensitive, compassionate and giving, often to his own detriment. His ideals and spiritual values motivate Isiah Thomas, and he cannot live for personal gain or materialistic concerns alone. There must be an element of beauty, magic, imagination, inspiration or creativity in what he does. Otherwise Isiah Thomas becomes listless and aimless. The arts, theater, music and/or charitable work are ideally suited to Isiah.

Isiah Thomas deeply believes in his own power and his ability to survive any change and emerge victorious from any difficulty. Isiah has tremendous inner resources and strength. Intense, strong willed, and zealous, he pursues his desires and goals with complete dedication and singleness of purpose, and he may be somewhat compulsive and even fanatical at times. Isiah likes to live intensely and has no respect for people who are weak or avoid confronting life and their own destiny.

Thomas tends to be in a constant state of tension and seems to look for avenues to test his strength. Isiah Thomas uses all the energy at his disposal in order to succeed. Somewhat rebellious and inflexible, Isiah fights any opposition or resistance he meets.
