Although Huntington Hartford enjoys conversing and interacting with people (as mentioned in the previous chapter), he also has a self-reliant, independent spirit. Hartford can go it alone if need be because Huntington Hartford likes to be a free agent. He likes to exchange ideas, but as stated below, he does not always listen.

He is a person who thrives on challenge, and he often feels that he must battle his way through life, relying on no one and nothing but his own strength, intelligence and courage.
