Gram Parsons

Gram Parsons' fundamental needs, values, and orientation towards life are symbolized by the four astrological elements. Each person has their own unique balance of these four basic energies: fire (warmth, inspiration, enthusiasm), earth (practicality, realism, material interests), air (social and intellectual qualities), and water (emotional needs and feelings).

Parsons' "elemental make-up" is described below. Remember that most people are "unbalanced" or lopsided, and if Gram is lacking or deficient in a certain element (or elements), it simply means that he needs to consciously develop that particular aspect in order to appreciate and/or work harder in that dimension of life.

It is very difficult for Gram Parsons to be objective and detached, or to view a situation from anyone else's point of view - his own feelings and personal experiences color Gram's judgment too much. Though he may sympathize or feel for others, Gram may in fact not really understand where they are coming from. Gram Parsons needs to develop the ability to stand back, reflect on life and analyze a situation logically. It is also essential that Parsons learn to communicate. Because Gram senses and feels so much, he may expect others to know what he is experiencing without filling them in. As mentioned earlier, words do not come easily to Gram Parsons but he would benefit greatly by learning to articulate and express himself verbally - otherwise he can stew in his own feelings too much, or find himself at the mercy of his own poorly-understood emotional patterns.

As you will read in the next chapter, Gram Parsons has a well-grounded and down-to-earth orientation towards life - a sense of realism that steadies his moody, imaginative disposition.
