Gene Markey motivation
When reading the previous chapter and this one, Gene Markey will notice that there are some significant differences between how he comes across to others and how he is at heart. His warm, supportive, nurturing side, described in the previous chapter, can conflict with his freedom-loving side, which is described below. In short, he may feel torn between taking care of others and "flying free". Gene Markey must maintain a balance so that he has enough time and freedom to explore, travel and play. Striving for this balance is an endless challenge for Markey. As kind and sympathetic as he is, there are limits to the amount of time and energy he can dedicate to taking care of other people. Those who really know Gene understand that he is an adventurer at heart, and personal commitments (especially when others depend on him) easily become burdensome.
He is a gambler and an adventurer at heart, one who loves to take risks, to discover and explore new worlds, and to travel the untried path rather than the safe, reliable one. He is independent, freedom loving, and often very restless. He needs a lifestyle that provides opportunities for travel, movement, change, and meeting new people. A steady routine, which offers much in the way of security but little in the way of space and freedom, is odious to him.
To Gene Markey, life is a journey and an adventure that is endlessly interesting and rich with possibilities, and it may be difficult for him to decide where to focus his attention and efforts. Gene Markey probably traveled around and experimented with many different paths before he settled on a particular career. Or he may go from one project to the next, for once the challenge and vital interest is gone, he is very quick to move on. Commitment, discipline, focus and concentration are not his strong points. Markey can be irresponsible and disinclined to take on the burdens and limitations of adult life.
An incurable optimist, he has big dreams, aspirations and hopes for the future and is usually engaged in pursuing a far-off goal. Gene Markey has a great deal of faith and trust in life and failures do not crush his spirit. Markey always bounces back from disappointments, often with another bright dream or scheme. Gene Markey has a sporting, playful attitude toward life and he is philosophical about his mistakes. Gene has the ability to sense future trends, to see the big picture, and he likes to theorize and speculate. However, he gets annoyed with all the details and practical requirements required to implement his theories.
Markey expresses himself in a very open, direct and straightforward manner and is often blunt and tactless as well. Because he does not take himself too seriously, he may not realize how deeply his candid statements can wound more sensitive souls. In fact, though he may not realize it, Gene's insensitivity and lack of understanding regarding others' feelings is probably one of his worst faults.
Gene Markey enjoys being in close relationships but also needs freedom and he does not do well with a possessive, clinging, or emotionally demanding partner. He is quite generous, and heartily dislikes pettiness in others. Someone who shares his ideals, his sense of fun and his zest for life would be the right companion for Markey.
Gene Markey has a very dramatic, creative, expressive nature and he loves to perform. Gene enjoys being the center of attention and he seeks to shine, to excel, and to be outstanding in some unique way. He is very involved in his own creativity and self-expression, and takes great pleasure in developing and using his special talents be they artistic, athletic or intellectual. Gene Markey has a strong sense of pride.
Gene Markey tends to see things from his perspective only and to be rather subjective. He also enjoys talking and expressing his views but does not always listen as well. Gene Markey has a clear mind, a love of learning and new experiences, and he needs constant mental stimulation and activity.
Gene Markey is extremely sensitive, compassionate and giving, often to his own detriment. His ideals and spiritual values motivate Gene Markey, and he cannot live for personal gain or materialistic concerns alone. There must be an element of beauty, magic, imagination, inspiration or creativity in what he does. Otherwise Gene Markey becomes listless and aimless. The arts, theater, music and/or charitable work are ideally suited to Gene.
