Although Frank Capra appears to be very fluid and impressionable (as mentioned in the previous chapter), he is basically very well grounded and realistic. While open to others' points of view, he is not as flexible or receptive as initially presumed. Inside, he is much firmer and more obstinate.

He is a steadfast and patient soul, capable of tremendous devotion, dedication, endurance and constancy. The ability to follow through and stick with things is one of his greatest assets. Once Capra's course is set, he pursues it tenaciously until it is completed, stubbornly resisting any attempts to sway him from his purpose.

Frank Capra has a very practical nature; he wants to see concrete, tangible results for his efforts, and he is not one to concoct wild dreams that are unlikely to come into fruition. Most of his "wild dreams" have to do with material achievements, well-being and security, for he has a great love of the physical world and he wants to experience and enjoy it to the full. Though Frank Capra will work long and persistently, he also has a strong sensual and comfort-loving side, and he wants to enjoy what he has worked for. In fact, Capra can be enormously lazy at times and has a tendency to overindulge in good food and other earthly pleasures. Frank Capra also loves the beauty of the natural world and he probably prefers a serene country setting to an urban life style.

Basically, his needs are simple and he is easy to please. Frank Capra has a strong desire for security, stability and peace, and will rarely make changes unless he is forced to do so. He is not very demanding emotionally, though he does crave a great deal of physical closeness and affection. Because of his faithfulness, emotional steadfastness and gentle strength, others often depend upon Capra for support. Though he hates upheaval and sudden changes, Frank Capra usually maintains his poise and equanimity. Frank Capra also has an innate sense of harmony with nature, allowing things to grow and unfold in their own time and the patience to nurture something into being - be it a garden, a child, or a creative project. He makes an excellent parent, especially if he follows his instincts more often than "the experts".

Frank has three major faults: one is his bullheaded obstinacy. The second is his unwillingness to deviate from his safe, predictable routine. And the third is Capra's tendency to always insist upon realism and undervalue the imaginative, speculative, and fanciful - in other words, Frank Capra lacks the ability to play with ideas and possibilities, and to open his mind to new horizons.

Ownership gives Frank Capra a sense of security, and he has a strong attachment to his possessions. Frank also has a natural instinct or understanding of economics, finance, trade, and appraising the value of merchandise.

Frank Capra tends to see things from his perspective only and to be rather subjective. He also enjoys talking and expressing his views but does not always listen as well. Frank Capra has a clear mind, a love of learning and new experiences, and he needs constant mental stimulation and activity.

Capra can be an inspiring leader of a team or group effort. His dynamism and energy evokes the same in others, and he sees healthy competition between people as a plus. Generally, Frank Capra enjoys fine health as well.

Frank has big aspirations and the desire to succeed in life in a grand way. Frank Capra tends to exaggerate, promise more than is feasible and misjudge by being overly optimistic. However, he never gives up on his hopes for the future. Capra tends to be restless and discontent with the responsibilities and limitations of life.

While Frank Capra does have a strong drive, he frequently holds himself back. One of his challenges lies in learning to endure frustration and to patiently overcome the obstacles in his life (or his own internal caution and resistance!).

However he also has a more somber side, which keeps Capra's optimism from becoming ungrounded or overblown. Frank Capra tends to seesaw between his faith, vision and high aspirations, and his caution and realism (or fear!). He cannot and does not rely on good luck or grace alone, and he accepts the need for hard work. His skeptical or "somber" side is described below.

He may have had a demanding and perfectionist or absent father. In any case, a lack of support and approval, a great deal of responsibility at an early age and an underlying feeling that he can never quite measure up may hold Capra back. While he may encounter a great deal of adversity and struggle alone through many of life's trials, this makes Frank Capra tough and determined. However, Capra should beware of becoming cynical, too hard on himself, and too demanding and critical of others.

Although he takes himself and his responsibilities seriously, there is also a part of Frank Capra that rebels against rules and restrictions and the need to contend with outside authority. Capra can feel torn between conforming to the rules or fulfilling his obligations, and breaking free of them. His wilder side will now be described.

If he follows his true nature, his life is apt to be unconventional, unusual, controversial and full of insecurity and excitement. Frank Capra cannot and will not be forced into a pre-set mold, and Frank finds it difficult to conform. His offbeat interests and tastes lead Capra to ventures that others may consider too "far-out" or experimental. Frank Capra has a very creative, inventive streak.

Capra tends to be in a constant state of tension and seems to look for avenues to test his strength. Frank Capra uses all the energy at his disposal in order to succeed. Somewhat rebellious and inflexible, Frank fights any opposition or resistance he meets.
