F. Lee Bailey motivation
Even though F. Lee Bailey comes across as headstrong and independent (as mentioned in the previous chapter), he is not a loner. As the following paragraphs describe, he is really a very social and gregarious creature at heart. Communication is very important to him, but Bailey often speaks too forcefully and he may not be as good a listener as he is a speaker. Moreover, F. Lee Bailey should be careful not to let his fast-paced life cause him to become high-strung and nervous.
F. Lee Bailey is, in many ways, an eternal child. His mind is bright, alert, curious, flexible, playful and always eager for new experiences - and his attention span is often quite brief. Bailey grasps ideas quickly and once his initial curiosity has been satisfied, he is ready to move on. F. Lee Bailey craves frequent change and variety, as well as new situations and people.
It may be hard for F. Lee Bailey to decide just where his talents and true vocation lie, for he has a multitude of interests and is loathe limiting himself by concentrating on just one. He is easily distracted by all of the other fascinating possibilities. His curiosity and restlessness propel Francis toward many different experiences in life, and he is willing to taste or try anything once. Doing the same thing over and over again, even if it is something he does well, is tantamount to drudgery for Bailey.
F. Lee Bailey lives in his head a great deal - reading, observing, thinking, spinning ideas around - and he needs mental stimulation every bit as much as he needs food and drink. In fact, if Francis had to choose between a good book or movie and a good lunch, he would very likely choose the former. F. Lee Bailey has a creative mind and he often lives by his wits.
He is also a very social creature, with a strong need to communicate and interact with people. He enjoys using and playing with words and has a real flair for getting his ideas across in a clever, interesting, articulate manner. Writing and/or speaking are areas he has talent for.
F. Lee Bailey also has a rather lighthearted and mischievous sense of humor, and often does not take anything too seriously. Though he craves emotional involvement, it is hard for F. Lee Bailey to achieve it, for he is frequently unwilling to commit himself to anything, to take responsibility or to limit his personal freedom and mobility.
His happiness lies in using his creativity and language skills to communicate something meaningful, teach, inspire, or bring people together. Francis has an unbiased mind and can usually offer a fresh, clear, uncluttered perspective. His faults are his lack of constancy and persistence, and his tendency to overlook or ignore deep emotional issues and other people's feelings.
The urge to learn and to communicate is essential to F. Lee Bailey, and he expresses himself very well through writing, teaching or sharing ideas and information. Bailey is persuasive and fluent with language.
Restless and inquisitive, Francis enjoys being mobile and taking short trips and excursions in order to see for himself what is going on in the world around him.
There is an ongoing, subtle conflict within F. Lee Bailey, between his conscious attitudes and aspirations, and his deeper emotional and subconscious beliefs, needs, and feelings. This creates considerable inner stress and sometimes paralyzing indecision, mostly due to the fact that Francis may be trying to follow a path that is at odds with his subconscious desires. Chronic tightness or tension in his body may well be a signal that F. Lee Bailey is denying or suppressing the messages from his subconscious or emotional self.
Ideally, F. Lee Bailey will learn to accept the two quite different aspects of his and to express both of them. If he cannot do this, Bailey is apt to attract many relationships into his life with people who reflect his denied or repressed qualities, and who seem to make his life difficult. (Read also chapter 4 in order to get a better picture of the duality described here.)
He is direct, energetic, sometimes aggressive and combative. F. Lee Bailey often feels that he needs to fight to get what he wants, and he tends to have a "me-first" attitude that angers or irritates others. He is hasty, restless, impatient and sometimes reckless.
Francis has big aspirations and the desire to succeed in life in a grand way. F. Lee Bailey tends to exaggerate, promise more than is feasible and misjudge by being overly optimistic. However, he never gives up on his hopes for the future. Bailey tends to be restless and discontent with the responsibilities and limitations of life.
While F. Lee Bailey does have a strong drive, he frequently holds himself back. One of his challenges lies in learning to endure frustration and to patiently overcome the obstacles in his life (or his own internal caution and resistance!).
However he also has a more somber side, which keeps Bailey's optimism from becoming ungrounded or overblown. F. Lee Bailey tends to seesaw between his faith, vision and high aspirations, and his caution and realism (or fear!). He cannot and does not rely on good luck or grace alone, and he accepts the need for hard work. His skeptical or "somber" side is described below.
Realistic and practical, F. Lee Bailey sets goals for himself that are modest enough for him to actually achieve. He is able to tackle long, difficult projects and see them through, for Bailey possesses self-discipline, concentration and perseverance. F. Lee Bailey also has a strong sense of responsibility and is very conscientious about fulfilling his obligations. Bailey often does things because he feels it is expected of him.
