Behind Bombeck's rather prudent, shrewd and guarded manner (described in the previous chapter), she is really kind, altruistic and idealistic. She is also much more vulnerable than she appears. She is very prudent and sharp in handling some of her affairs, but occasionally Bombeck's deep-rooted idealism can cloud her vision.
