Though Djuna Barnes seems rather cautious and conservative (as discussed in the previous chapter), she has a much more playful, humorous side as well. Moreover, the combination of her attention to detail and cautious, circumspect approach to life, coupled with her youthful curiosity and quick mind makes Djuna mentally sharp, articulate and clever.
Djuna Barnes is, in many ways, an eternal child. Her mind is bright, alert, curious, flexible, playful and always eager for new experiences - and her attention span is often quite brief.
