Though Ben-Gurion may seem breezy, independent and freedom-loving (as mentioned in the previous chapter), actually he is not completely happy without a partner. He enjoys being on the move and exploring new territory - but he wants a traveling companion! Fulfilling relationships that also do not restrict him is Ben-Gurion's ideal.

Harmony and balance are his keynotes. David Ben-Gurion instinctively understands the need to accommodate other people's interests and desires, and he is always fair and willing to meet the other person half way. Tactful, diplomatic, and with considerable social awareness, David does all he can to avoid conflict and discord. He expresses a spirit of cooperation and compromise and often achieves through charm and discretion what would have been impossible to achieve by a direct, forceful approach.

Getting along with others and pleasing them may be too much of importance to him, for Ben-Gurion can be too dependent on others' approval and opinions to make his own decisions. Ben-Gurion will rarely act without getting the counsel and feedback of other people. He prefers sharing and doing things together rather than on his own. Being alone feels very unnatural to David Ben-Gurion, and he has a strong need for a partner and intimate one-to-one relationships.

David Ben-Gurion invests a great deal of his energy in personal love relationships and he is very idealistic and romantic about marriage. David Ben-Gurion seeks a partner who is his equal intellectually, and who is capable of a mental relationship as well as a physical and emotional one. He makes a thoughtful, considerate friend or lover, and he enjoys the traditional symbols of love - courtship, flowers, etc. Relationships are like an art to Ben-Gurion, one that requires time, attention, and creative effort. Fairness and equality, both in his personal relationships and in the world, are extremely important to him. Either working with people as a counselor, advisor, consultant, or negotiator - or in an artistic field such as design or photography, would be fulfilling to him.

World travel, foreign cultures, and studies which expand his intellectual horizons and broaden his understanding of the world are very attractive to Ben-Gurion.

David Ben-Gurion has a philosophical turn of mind and is concerned with seeking answers to the big questions of life or getting the overview of any situation. Abstract concepts and/or plans for the future occupy his mind much of the time.

He is blessed with abundant optimism, self-confidence, and cheerful generosity. His good will and friendliness win him many allies. David Ben-Gurion also has grand visions and aspirations, and the desire to succeed in life in a big way. David expects the best, and usually gets it.

However he also has a heavier side which keeps Ben-Gurion's optimism from becoming ungrounded or overblown. David Ben-Gurion tends to seesaw between his faith, vision and high aspirations, and his caution and realism (or fear!). He cannot and does not rely on good luck or grace alone, and he accepts the need for hard work. His doubting or "heavy" side is described below.

Feelings of personal inadequacy, inhibitions, and self-doubt often plague him. David Ben-Gurion has a cautious, careful, realistic attitude toward life and is highly responsible and disciplined with regard to his obligations and duties. David Ben-Gurion tends to work and struggle more than he needs to, and to take himself too seriously.

Ben-Gurion always seems to find the right words to verbalize his feelings, especially in regard to love and friendship. David Ben-Gurion also has a keen sense of beauty and he probably appreciates art, music or poetry.

He may be a bit high-strung and over-zealous in the pursuit of his endeavors. Ben-Gurion always seems to be in a hurry and has the ability to evaluate situations quickly. David Ben-Gurion has a brilliant mind and possibly could invent something.

Appearing successful and attractive to the public is important to him. David Ben-Gurion probably enjoys wearing stylish clothes and modern jewelry. He tends to seek admiration from others and social acceptance is necessary to David's well-being.

David Ben-Gurion has a basic need to fit in with others and is always willing to cooperate. He enjoys working with others as a team and is a well liked comrade.
