Chico Marx motivation
Behind Marx's proud and magnanimous demeanor (as described on the previous page) lies a real go-getter. Others feel that he is rather narcissistic. Chico Marx should strive to always be aware of others' needs and concerns to prove this criticism wrong!
He is a person who thrives on challenge, and he often feels that he must battle his way through life, relying on no one and nothing but his own strength, intelligence and courage. Chico Marx believes in being totally honest, true to himself and his own vision and convictions, even if it means standing alone. Honesty, integrity, personal honor and authenticity are Marx's gods, and he has no sympathy for weakness of character in others.
Chico Marx craves the freedom to do things in his own way, and he works very well independently. Cooperating with others or carrying out another's will is not his style. Chico likes to be the chief - or to go it alone.
Chico Marx loves action and if others are settling down into a nice, comfortable little rut, then he is always ready to stir things up, do something new, make changes and introduce some fresh blood. Routine and sameness are tantamount to death for him. He is not afraid of trying something that has never been done before, and even though he may sometimes be perceived as a fool, Chico Marx also discovers, invents and initiates things that others will later emulate. Taking risks and following his own star are the breath of life for Marx, and he wilts (or gets very frustrated and angry) if he cannot do this.
He is spontaneous, impulsive, direct, enthusiastic and assertive. Chico Marx believes in the power of positive thinking and positive action, and he perceives himself as a strong, even invincible, person. Chico Marx hates being ill or in a position of dependency. Accepting his own human limitations and emotional needs is often difficult for him.
He is basically aggressive in his attitudes and less adept at relating to others, picking up on subtle messages and nuances, listening, nurturing and harmonizing. He is often so fired up about his own projects or goals that he inadvertently runs over or ignores other people's feelings and interests. Being receptive and appreciative of others' contributions, ideas and feelings would be highly instrumental in improving Marx's relationships. His impatience to get on with things causes Chico Marx to be rather insensitive, thereby alienating others unnecessarily. He also frequently tries to accomplish his goals through anger or temper tantrums. Chico Marx would gain much by learning to slow down, relax and sometimes just let things be, however his energetic, restless nature rarely allows Chico Marx to do so.
Chico Marx craves intense experiences and is attracted to aspects of life that are strange, unfathomable, or taboo. He may hide his interests or inclinations, except from those who know Chico very intimately. Chico Marx is rarely content with himself and his life, and he has an inner urge to be continually going farther or deeper than him ever have before. Chico has also a strong interest in social power and the role that money and economics play in people's lives.
Chico Marx tends to see things from his perspective only and to be rather subjective. He also enjoys talking and expressing his views but does not always listen as well. Chico Marx has a clear mind, a love of learning and new experiences, and he needs constant mental stimulation and activity.
Marx occasionally gamble, splurge, or overextend himself in ways that may be quite at odds with his usual way of doing things. Exaggerating his accomplishments or spending too much in order to impress others and build up his own self-esteem can be a problem. However, Chico Marx also has faith and an optimistic side, which enable him to recover from the negative consequences of his excesses, and to learn from them.
Chico Marx undergoes deep, transformative changes in his life with relative ease and a minimum of conscious resistance. Because he does not avoid the depths, Marx has access to a lot of personal power and strength. Without realizing it or seeking it, Chico is apt to have quite a potent effect on the people he comes into contact with, even superficially. Others sense that Chico Marx is a force to be reckoned with.
Chico Marx has a sense of good fellowship and comradeship and is very much at ease in contact with others. Marx works successfully with others in his community, groups or associations and may get some assistance from some very powerful and influential people.
