challenges and difficulties
Charles Reich has a critical, cynical attitude towards many religions and philosophies. Without realizing it, he prevents himself from appreciating new viewpoints and attitudes. Reich is more rigid and dogmatic than he realizes. His approach may also be too intellectual or moralistic. Charles Reich takes his own political beliefs and spiritual philosophy very seriously, worrying and fretting if he is not 100% clear about some ideology or theory.
Fear of the unknown, of change, and/or of death may plague Charles. He strongly resists changes and transitions rather than greeting them with curiosity or a spirit of adventure, which makes them much harder for him.
On another level entirely, Charles Reich is very careful about joining forces, and especially his material resources, with others. Reich wants to keep his own and other people's property and assets very distinct.
Charles Reich tends to be his own worst enemy, demanding inhuman perfection of himself and harshly criticizing or persecuting himself when he does not measure up. Perhaps circumstances or relationships in his life have been extremely difficult and demanding, reinforcing Charles' belief that he must struggle alone.
He is capable of tremendous effort and of overcoming great odds and handicaps. Through these efforts Charles Reich develops his power and inner strength. However, Charles Reich should not make life harder than it is. He must give himself permission to let up sometimes, and to realize that he is only human.
At some time in his life Charles Reich could have a possible tragedy in love relationships that affects him deeply. Some disturbing experiences may rest heavily on his shoulders and as a result, Charles may turn cold or bitter.
He is somewhat pessimistic and prone to states of depression. Charles Reich may feel like withdrawing from everything and that he is not adequately equipped to handle his life. He may need someone else's point of view to balance his overly pessimistic outlook.
Charles Reich may often be coerced into doing things that he does not want to do, leaving him frustrated, irritable and touchy. Charles could turn hard and unforgiving toward others and may break up some important relationships.
Now we will discuss patterns of behavior which Charles Reich instinctively and habitually reverts to when under stress - a mostly subconscious process that he is apt to over indulge in because it is so familiar and hence easy for him. The direction Charles Reich needs to follow in order to develop balance, greater awareness, and wholeness is also described.
Charles Reich needs to take what he has learned (either through formal education or his own questing and life experience) and share it with others, communicate it or express it in a way that can benefit others. Knowledge and understanding, which does not enhance either Charles' quality of life or that of persons in his world, is of little real value. Putting Reich's understanding, philosophy, and convictions into practice in his daily relationships, and in the multiple choices he makes every day, will enable Charles Reich to really test his belief system and discover more about life.
When under stress, Charles Reich is apt to seek refuge in imagining that the grass is greener elsewhere, rather than working with what is at hand. Charles Reich needs to cultivate his ability to live in the present!
It is in his relationships with others that he is most likely to wrestle with these issues. There is a dynamic balance (or conflict) within Charles Reich between acting spontaneously and being true to himself versus modifying himself or his behavior to suit others. Charles Reich seesaws between being inordinately concerned with his self to being overly conciliatory and concerned with others' needs, rights, or opinions about him. Learning to act authentically and forthrightly regardless of possible consequences is Reich's task.
The following are specific activities that will support Charles Reich in his growth. These may or may not feel natural to Reich, and he may initially resist or feel awkward about them, but they are crucial to his path to wholeness.
Charles Reich should care for and nourish children, plants, pets or other people. He needs to make a home, create and sustain strong relationships with his family or a community that can support him and give him a sense of safety and belonging.
Charles Reich should develop his listening skills and deepen his understanding and appreciation of women and their perspective. Charles Reich has to learn to trust his own feelings, intuitions and emotional needs. He needs to care for himself in an accepting, non-judgmental way.
It is in Charles Reich's best interest to take all that is good and helpful from his past and use it in a new way. (If he is so inclined, Charles may want to explore the potential of past-life regression to tap into gifts he has already developed).
He is well-mannered and has a kind, helpful and obliging nature. Charles Reich is very social, loves to entertain and enjoys talking with people. Charles feels mentally in tune with others and makes a good companion.
