Bing Crosby challenges and difficulties
Bing has an innate distrust of groups and/or a cynical attitude toward society that may leave him feeling out of step and unable to participate in activities with his peers. Overcoming a sense of aloofness and alienation from others is an important task for Crosby.
His childhood or his relationship with his parents was restrictive, unloving or unhappy in ways that may prevent Bing from allowing other people to get close to him in later life. Bing Crosby feels that he was deprived in one form or another, regardless of whether he actually was or not. His early life - at least as Crosby remembers it - may have been marked by emotional separation or repression of his needs and feelings. Forgiving his parents and/or letting go of any resentments he has about the limitations that he experienced early in his life is crucial. Also, Bing Crosby needs to build his own solid foundation, and investing time and energy into his home, domestic relationships, and inner life can help Bing accomplish this task.
Basically shy, Bing may become a bit inhibited when talking with other people. Bing Crosby tends to withdraw from others and likes to live a humble, quiet life in seclusion. He may get involved with a group of a secretive nature, although Crosby is not generally one to join groups.
Crosby may find it difficult to relate to people and express his feelings, especially in love relationships. On the hand, Bing Crosby wants relationships yet on the other, he would rather be by himself. A sense of personal inadequacy makes Bing withdraw from others and feel lonely as a result.
He is not afraid of hard work and leaves no stone unturned in the pursuit of his objectives. Bing Crosby has a strong desire to overcome any difficulties or obstacles in his way and will do this at all cost, even if it means having to use force.
Now we will discuss patterns of behavior which Bing Crosby instinctively and habitually reverts to when under stress - a mostly subconscious process that he is apt to over indulge in because it is so familiar and hence easy for him. The direction Bing Crosby needs to follow in order to develop balance, greater awareness, and wholeness is also described.
Instinctively he is a fighter and an individualist who can stand alone when necessary. Very often, however, Bing stands alone when he does not need to, not realizing the support, assistance, and resources others may have to offer. Bing Crosby has a tendency to "reinvent the wheel" and to feel that he must be self-reliant and that only he can come up with the answers he needs. Implicit in this attitude is a kind of arrogance as well as a rather competitive approach, which - at its worst - can alienate him from others, or make Bing Crosby feel that "it is me against the world".
Social skills and graces and what Bing Crosby calls social "games" do not come naturally to him. Bing Crosby needs to learn how to share and join others, and how to negotiate and resolve conflict with others in a cooperative way.
It is in his relationships with others that he is most likely to wrestle with these issues. There is a dynamic balance (or conflict) within Bing Crosby between acting spontaneously and being true to himself versus modifying himself or his behavior to suit others. Bing Crosby seesaws between being inordinately concerned with his self to being overly conciliatory and concerned with others' needs, rights, or opinions about him. Learning to act authentically and forthrightly regardless of possible consequences is Crosby's task.
He is very socially minded and it is easy for Bing Crosby to show his affection. His family or community probably provided fertile ground for his development. Crosby may love to show off a little and he thrives on being involved with others in joyful group activities.
Bing Crosby has a vivacious and lively manner with a tendency to shock others at times by blurting out blunt comments. Bing loves to be with people, but tends to get overly excited when he is with them.
