The combination of independence, self-reliance (as described in Chapter 2) and perseverance and dedication (as described below) enables Anna Zugno to succeed in an independent line of work. Anna has both the initiative to take a pioneering step and the persistence to see it through. Zugno should note, however, that her stubbornness and self-reliance often cause her to cling to her own convictions and Anna Zugno is often unreceptive to others' suggestions, assistance, advice or support.
She is a steadfast and patient soul, capable of tremendous devotion, dedication, endurance and constancy. The ability to follow through and stick with things is one of her greatest assets. Once Zugno's course is set, she pursues it tenaciously until it is completed, stubbornly resisting any attempts to sway her from her purpose.
Anna Zugno has a very practical nature; she wants to see concrete, tangible results for her efforts, and she is not one to concoct wild dreams that are unlikely to come into fruition. Most of her "wild dreams" have to do with material achievements, well-being and security, for she has a great love of the physical world and she wants to experience and enjoy it to the full. Though Anna Zugno will work long and persistently, she also has a strong sensual and comfort-loving side, and she wants to enjoy what she has worked for. In fact, Zugno can be enormously lazy at times and has a tendency to overindulge in good food and other earthly pleasures. Anna Zugno also loves the beauty of the natural world and she probably prefers a serene country setting to an urban life style.
Basically, her needs are simple and she is easy to please. Anna Zugno has a strong desire for security, stability and peace, and will rarely make changes unless she is forced to do so. She is not very demanding emotionally, though she does crave a great deal of physical closeness and affection. Because of her faithfulness, emotional steadfastness and gentle strength, others often depend upon Zugno for support. Though she hates upheaval and sudden changes, Anna Zugno usually maintains her poise and equanimity. Anna Zugno also has an innate sense of harmony with nature, allowing things to grow and unfold in their own time and the patience to nurture something into being - be it a garden, a child, or a creative project. She makes an excellent parent, especially if she follows her instincts more often than "the experts".
Anna has three major faults: one is her bullheaded obstinacy. The second is her unwillingness to deviate from her safe, predictable routine. And the third is Zugno's tendency to always insist upon realism and undervalue the imaginative, speculative, and fanciful - in other words, Anna Zugno lacks the ability to play with ideas and possibilities, and to open her mind to new horizons.
Anna Zugno has a clear sense of her own self and she therefore conveys a strong impression to others of who she is and what she wants. Assertive and self-motivated, Zugno can be a leader - one whom others look to for direction - but she competes and often clashes with other strong individuals. Anna Zugno feels a need to be in control of her own life and she can be too self-involved, too immersed in her own interests, and oblivious to others at times.
Anna has lofty aspirations but does not struggle or labor to achieve them. Her self-confidence and inner harmony attract success and benefit her in an almost magical way. Her optimism and cheerful generosity also win Zugno many allies and successes in life.
However she also has a more somber side, which keeps Zugno's optimism from becoming ungrounded or overblown. Anna Zugno tends to seesaw between her faith, vision and high aspirations, and her caution and realism (or fear!). She cannot and does not rely on good luck or grace alone, and she accepts the need for hard work. Her skeptical or "somber" side is described below.
She may have had a demanding and perfectionist or absent father. In any case, a lack of support and approval, a great deal of responsibility at an early age and an underlying feeling that she can never quite measure up may hold Zugno back. While she may encounter a great deal of adversity and struggle alone through many of life's trials, this makes Anna Zugno tough and determined. However, Zugno should beware of becoming cynical, too hard on herself, and too demanding and critical of others.
Although she takes herself and her responsibilities seriously, there is also a part of Anna Zugno that rebels against rules and restrictions and the need to contend with outside authority. Zugno can feel torn between conforming to the rules or fulfilling her obligations, and breaking free of them. Her wilder side will now be described.
At times Anna Zugno may feel an uncontrollable urge to radically alter her direction in life or to act in ways that seem eccentric or at least highly atypical. When her life becomes too predictable, Anna may do something to upset the status quo, sometimes without realizing why or how she is doing it. These impulses may seem at odds with her conscious intent and desires for herself, and can be unsettling. However, there is a streak of unconventionality and creative genius in Anna Zugno that needs to be expressed now and then.
