Ann Druyan motivation
Though Ann Druyan seems rather cautious and conservative (as discussed in the previous chapter), she has a much more playful, humorous side as well. Moreover, the combination of her attention to detail and cautious, circumspect approach to life, coupled with her youthful curiosity and quick mind makes Ann mentally sharp, articulate and clever.
Ann Druyan is, in many ways, an eternal child. Her mind is bright, alert, curious, flexible, playful and always eager for new experiences - and her attention span is often quite brief. Druyan grasps ideas quickly and once her initial curiosity has been satisfied, she is ready to move on. Ann Druyan craves frequent change and variety, as well as new situations and people.
It may be hard for Ann Druyan to decide just where her talents and true vocation lie, for she has a multitude of interests and is loathe limiting herself by concentrating on just one. She is easily distracted by all of the other fascinating possibilities. Her curiosity and restlessness propel Ann toward many different experiences in life, and she is willing to taste or try anything once. Doing the same thing over and over again, even if it is something she does well, is tantamount to drudgery for Druyan.
Ann Druyan lives in her head a great deal - reading, observing, thinking, spinning ideas around - and she needs mental stimulation every bit as much as she needs food and drink. In fact, if Ann had to choose between a good book or movie and a good lunch, she would very likely choose the former. Ann Druyan has a creative mind and she often lives by her wits.
She is also a very social creature, with a strong need to communicate and interact with people. She enjoys using and playing with words and has a real flair for getting her ideas across in a clever, interesting, articulate manner. Writing and/or speaking are areas she has talent for.
Ann Druyan also has a rather lighthearted and mischievous sense of humor, and often does not take anything too seriously. Though she craves emotional involvement, it is hard for Ann Druyan to achieve it, for she is frequently unwilling to commit herself to anything, to take responsibility or to limit her personal freedom and mobility.
Her happiness lies in using her creativity and language skills to communicate something meaningful, teach, inspire, or bring people together. Ann has an unbiased mind and can usually offer a fresh, clear, uncluttered perspective. Her faults are her lack of constancy and persistence, and her tendency to overlook or ignore deep emotional issues and other people's feelings.
Her career, reputation, and public image are very important to Druyan. Ann Druyan has a strong desire to be influential or make her mark on the world. The merely personal sphere does not satisfy her; her ambitions include making a major contribution and receiving broad recognition for her unique effort and gifts. Ann Druyan may undervalue the personal or inner side of life.
Druyan always seems to find the right words to verbalize her feelings, especially in regard to love and friendship. Ann Druyan also has a keen sense of beauty and she probably appreciates art, music or poetry.
Appearing successful and attractive to the public is important to her. Ann Druyan probably enjoys wearing stylish clothes and modern jewelry. She tends to seek admiration from others and social acceptance is necessary to Ann's well-being.
