Alice A. Bailey motivation
Though Alice A. Bailey cares very much about her dignity and the way she is perceived by others (as described on the previous page), she has a very mischievous, playful side that pokes fun of anyone who takes herself too seriously (including herself!). Also, though her great loyalty was highlighted in the previous chapter, fortunately she is also flexible and playful, so she does not allow her commitments to become too burdensome.
Alice A. Bailey is, in many ways, an eternal child. Her mind is bright, alert, curious, flexible, playful and always eager for new experiences - and her attention span is often quite brief. Bailey grasps ideas quickly and once her initial curiosity has been satisfied, she is ready to move on. Alice A. Bailey craves frequent change and variety, as well as new situations and people.
It may be hard for Alice A. Bailey to decide just where her talents and true vocation lie, for she has a multitude of interests and is loathe limiting herself by concentrating on just one. She is easily distracted by all of the other fascinating possibilities. Her curiosity and restlessness propel Alice toward many different experiences in life, and she is willing to taste or try anything once. Doing the same thing over and over again, even if it is something she does well, is tantamount to drudgery for Bailey.
Alice A. Bailey lives in her head a great deal - reading, observing, thinking, spinning ideas around - and she needs mental stimulation every bit as much as she needs food and drink. In fact, if Alice had to choose between a good book or movie and a good lunch, she would very likely choose the former. Alice A. Bailey has a creative mind and she often lives by her wits.
She is also a very social creature, with a strong need to communicate and interact with people. She enjoys using and playing with words and has a real flair for getting her ideas across in a clever, interesting, articulate manner. Writing and/or speaking are areas she has talent for.
Alice A. Bailey also has a rather lighthearted and mischievous sense of humor, and often does not take anything too seriously. Though she craves emotional involvement, it is hard for Alice A. Bailey to achieve it, for she is frequently unwilling to commit herself to anything, to take responsibility or to limit her personal freedom and mobility.
Her happiness lies in using her creativity and language skills to communicate something meaningful, teach, inspire, or bring people together. Alice has an unbiased mind and can usually offer a fresh, clear, uncluttered perspective. Her faults are her lack of constancy and persistence, and her tendency to overlook or ignore deep emotional issues and other people's feelings.
Leading groups and classes, and being involved in community efforts, social activities, events or movements are areas where Alice A. Bailey really shines and expresses her creativity. An awareness of politics or the larger social impact of individual actions is natural to her.
Alice A. Bailey often feels that she is at cross purposes with herself, for her conscious intentions and desires conflict with her subconscious emotional needs and drives. She is torn in two different directions. Alice has difficulty satisfying both her need to be an individual and her need for caring relationships and a sense of belonging. Moreover, Alice sends out mixed messages so people do not always know how to respond to her or what Alice really wants, thereby creating confusion or conflict in close relationships.
Alice A. Bailey has a healthy amount of self-control and self-discipline. Bailey also radiates a rather responsible, trustworthy, solid feeling about herself which will win her the confidence of others, especially her superiors.
Her vitality is not up to par and her will-power a bit weak, making Alice A. Bailey vulnerable to swindle or deceit. Her inner discontent and casual attitude could easily lead Bailey into dubious schemes. Alice should refrain from any activity that seems to be subversive.
Her comprehension is exceptional and Alice A. Bailey reacts to everything very quickly. Bailey shows deep respect for knowledge and feels that she must learn everything there is to know. Studying probably was encouraged early on and Alice A. Bailey was raised to be successful.
Alice A. Bailey seems to have an emotional and physical unrest and she always have to be on the move. Alice could find it difficult to control herself and she tends to get angry and upset easily. Eccentric and individualistic, she can create a stir wherever she goes.
Bailey depends a great deal on other people's reactions to her and rarely acts until she sees how she affects others. Alice A. Bailey must learn to be direct and straightforward, rather than evasive or manipulative. Alice should also learn to rely heavily on her hunches.
