Al Jardine challenges and difficulties
Jardine doubts his own intelligence and mental capacities, and he may work very hard at studies in order to compensate for this. Al is often overly serious and disinterested in light or superficial conversation. Spontaneous communication, social give-and-take, and making small talk are likely to be difficult for him.
Fear of the unknown, of change, and/or of death may plague Al. He strongly resists changes and transitions rather than greeting them with curiosity or a spirit of adventure, which makes them much harder for him.
On another level entirely, Al Jardine is very careful about joining forces, and especially his material resources, with others. Jardine wants to keep his own and other people's property and assets very distinct.
He is inclined to exercise self-control and tries to suppress his inner excitability or irritability. Jardine can be somewhat self-willed, though, and strive to be independent. If Al Jardine feels that someone is holding him down too much, he may suddenly break up the relationship.
Now we will discuss patterns of behavior which Al Jardine instinctively and habitually reverts to when under stress - a mostly subconscious process that he is apt to over indulge in because it is so familiar and hence easy for him. The direction Al Jardine needs to follow in order to develop balance, greater awareness, and wholeness is also described.
His natural instinct, especially when under stress, is to passively go along with whatever is easiest, refrain from clearly analyzing or assessing his situation and perhaps even try to escape from seeing his situation clearly by indulging in fantasies, intoxicants, and the like. Dreaminess and impracticality, being unfocused and undefined (at least in certain areas) are ways Al Jardine copes with stress. Al Jardine also has trouble setting limits and saying no.
His development path lies in cultivating discrimination and clarity, becoming more precise, and developing technical and practical skills that will enable Al Jardine to function more efficiently in the world. Finding a way to be of practical service is also important.
It is in any involvements he has with teams, clubs, organizations, networks, and the like that Al Jardine is most likely to wrestle with these issues. The qualities described above need to be channeled into some sort of group effort or experience, or have some impact on society at large.
The following are specific activities that will support Al Jardine in his growth. These may or may not feel natural to Jardine, and he may initially resist or feel awkward about them, but they are crucial to his path to wholeness.
Al Jardine should develop true self-confidence and the willingness to put himself "out there", be seen and shine. Al needs to be willing to take on a leading role. He needs to be a hero - a protagonist in his own story - by cultivating the courageous, active, and positive masculine qualities he possesses. Doing creative work that he is proud of - anything that comes from Jardine's heart and bears the stamp of Jardine's individuality - is important. Also, being a mentor, a helpful, encouraging force in the life of someone less experienced than he is a way for Al Jardine to grow and become more whole himself.
Jardine considers the ability to think and speak convincingly as the most powerful instrument one can possess. He always strives for intellectual control in his environment and tends to dominate his relationships. Al Jardine has a strong desire to be the spokesman in his community.
He is very obliging and always looks for relationships with other people. Al Jardine tends to feel really at home with his family or in groups or associations that he may join. Al has a strong desire to feel at one with his community.
