King Mongkut in Relationships
King Mongkut has frequent emotional outbursts due to his fiery temper and emotional impulsiveness. Rama IV expresses himself very directly and honestly and no one has to guess what his true feelings are. However, King Mongkut dislikes showing any personal weakness or his need for support, comfort and nurturing. He is often impatient with himself and others. Mongkut abhors emotional dependency and dislikes "complainers".
King Mongkut inspires others to take positive action in their lives through his own enthusiasm and eagerness to meet life's challenges, and he is attracted to people who are adventurous, courageous and independent. Mongkut is rather bossy but does not like to be with people that he can boss around too much. He enjoys a good fight sometimes. Relationships that are built on mutual respect and emotional freedom are ideal for Rama IV.
King Mongkut becomes very cross if he lacks vigorous physical activity. Rama IV feels his best if he frequently "does battle" on the tennis or racquetball court (or engages in another form of competitive sport).
Though he wants close relationships very much, King Mongkut often closes himself off and does not really trust others who may wish to get to know him. Rama IV is very wholehearted in his feelings and responses to people, and he wants all or nothing from the people he cares for.
Highly sensitive and rather easily taken in, King Mongkut needs to beware of deceiving himself and allowing others to take advantage of his impressionability or gentleness. Daydreaming, fantasizing, or other forms of imaginative, escapist behavior (such as watching television excessively or living his life through romance novels) could be something of an addiction for Rama IV. King Mongkut tends to confuse images with reality and needs to learn to be more circumspect and discriminating. Disappointments through women and in close relationships may occur if Rama IV does not.
Emotionally excitable, Rama IV tends to act impulsively and make rash decisions without thinking of the consequences. Others may see Mongkut as an eccentric, somewhat selfish and unpredictable. King Mongkut seems to attract sudden upsetting experiences.
He is quietly devoted and faithful to his loved ones and often becomes subservient to his love partner. King Mongkut is more comfortable showing his love by doing or making something for his loved one, or simply being there for her, rather than by making any romantic, soul-stirring declarations. He is timid about expressing too much sentiment or emotion. King Mongkut also underestimates his attractiveness and lovability and doubts his own worthiness of love and appreciation.
King Mongkut often hides his affection, or finds his feelings difficult to express or get across to the person he loves. Being openly affectionate and trusting often does not seem safe to Mongkut. He may feel his love will not be appreciated or reciprocated. King Mongkut may get involved in secret love relationships or fall in love with a person who is quite unavailable to him. Love and sacrifice often seem to go hand in hand for King Mongkut - having to give something up to be with the one he loves, or having to relinquish some person or some aspect of an important love relationship.
King Mongkut loves to laugh, celebrate, and to enjoy himself with his companions. Emotionally open and easygoing, Mongkut considers just about anyone a friend or potential friend. His good humor and friendliness make him quite popular and well-liked. At times, King Mongkut overdoes the festivities, but he rarely regrets this.
Intimate relationships are the arena in which King Mongkut explores the depths he is capable of. He could fall intensely and fanatically in love and be obsessive, extraordinarily jealous or deeply involved with his partners. Rama IV will experience both heaven and hell in his closest relationships. There is undoubtedly a peculiarly karmic, fated quality to these relationships, which - though difficult - will teach King Mongkut things about himself and about love that he could not learn in any other way. Rama IV will often enter relationships which he realizes - rationally - will be very difficult, yet he cannot resist them, nonetheless. King Mongkut needs not to avoid berating himself for these "bad" choices; instead, he needs to learn what he can from them.
His erotic nature is strong and King Mongkut is likely to have a lot of romantic relationships. Very unconventional, he may have many unorthodox contacts. Mongkut has much zest for life, likes his freedom and finds it difficult to settle down.
